World's worse, should have slept in

It's been a while but here's another Morning News Round-Up. Today: Jake is fake, Winnipeg hates paint, and fameball Julia Allison makes a mistake.

Pop goes the world:

Amy Winehouse finally pulls it together and starts to play a “comeback” show, before getting rained out. [MTV]

“Jane Says” singer Perry Farrell tore his calf in Atlanta. No good could have come from touring with Trent Reznor, Perry. We told you so. [HuffPo]

Jake Gyllenhaal’s abs are fake. No word yet on the rest of his body. [MovieLine]

Famous American Julia Allison told former actress Rachel Leigh Cook she looked just like Rachel Leigh Cook at last night’s WHCA Dinner. [DailyIntel]

Kylie Fever is coming to North America, finally. [ChartAttack]

Sad gay life:

The New York Times just got gayer. Maybe. [Gawker]

Social conservative and fag-hater Carrie Prejean is naked on the net, again. Someone tell this girl Sexting will get her in trouble. [TMZ]

Looking bad and feeling good:

Ciara is joining Lady Gaga, Victoria Beckham, and Lily Allen in the no-pants club. [TheCut]

Be a good sport:

Somewhere between 1 and 2 million Canadians have applied to carry the 2010 Olympic torch, which apparently, is embarrassingly low. [MarketingDaily]

Non-North American scum:

Let's all hate Toronto:

Concerned Sri-Lankans and/or the Tamil Tigers shut down the Gardiner, depending on who tells the story. No word yet if Tamil princess M.I.A. was seen on the streets. [Torontist] [GlobalReporter]

My Winnipeg:

First, Winnipeg started asking storeowners to paint over tags, even if they like the found-art graffiti on their walls. Now, it’s forcing convicted vandal-artists to clean up the art they’ve left around the city. [CBC]

... And in art the government approves of, the Winnipeg Art Gallery has painted its walls pink in honour of maiden muse Marilyn Monroe. [CBC]
