For all its usage as an adage, America’s favorite pastime has changed. The NBA, NFL, March Madness, and college football usurped the crown. If baseball still lies in the heart of some nation, it’s probably an Asian chest.
Here my students argue it’s the most exciting sport to watch and easily the best to play. So we stumbled into a high school baseball game last Sunday. The field stretched out to low rafters, the longest plot of Korean grass I’ve seen.
Behind the line of blue caps I snapped photos with no alliance to any team. But we soon got bored and left shoulders slumped, wishing we’d fallen into a football game.
